When it comes to purchasing a pellet stove multi fuel pellet stoves are a far better investment than a pellet stove that can solely burn wood pellets. Wood pellets are a cleaner combustion energy than multi fuel pellets as they are made from selected types of biomass, which before been pelletized have had the bark removed, though they are a lot more expensive than multi energy pellets. Also if you purchase a pellet stove that can only burn one type of fuel, then you are dependent on that energy source and if prices were to rise you would be left by way of a bad investment. There are many dissimilar manufactures of multi energy pellet stoves, but not all are of the same quality. Some of the cheaper makes can after a while run in to problems by the excess ash, clinker as well as slag formations that are created when incineration multi fuel pellets. In the cheaper pellet stoves these waste materials can cause breakdown by way of the mechanics of the pellet stove.

Before you invest in a multi fuel pellet stove you should contact your local authority to see if you are entitled to any tax credits or grants obtainable. If you are living in the US then in some states you could be entitled to a 30% tax credit to help toward the costs of installing a multi energy pellet stove. In The UK some councils are offering grants towards the costs of pellet stove installation as they are trying to encourage the use of carbon neutral fuels like multi energy pellets. Therefore investing in a multi fuel pellet stove is not only a good financial investment but is also a step towards a greener way of living. Multi fuel pellets are manufactured form wood matter. When the grass, biomass or straw that go into making the multi energy pellets are increasing they absorb carbon dioxide from the environment, then when it is burnt it only ever produces as much carbon dioxide as it absorbed while it was rising, hence the term carbon neutral fuel. If you would like to find out more information about multi energy pellets or wood pellets then we have developed the biomass pellet manufacture guide.

If you haven’t decided what type of multi fuel pellet stove you are going to buy then you will call for to categorise what factor along with features are important to you. As I stated earlier the cheapest options can sometimes cause you problems but that does not suggest that if you go for the most expensive multi fuel pellet stove that you aren’t going to run into problems. You will need to research about the best mechanical put in’s for pellet stoves. For case in point bottom fed auger systems are far more reliable than greatest fed auger systems as the excess ash as well as clinker formations shaped when combustion multi energy pellets can cause breakdowns by means of these parts of the pellet stoves. When looking at the designs of pellet stoves there are a lot to choose from. You could go for a more traditional looking pellet stove that resembles a traditional wood stove or you could go for a more modern looking design. If you would like more information on the various types of multi fuel pellet stoves on the market today then we have developed the pellet stove and boiler guide to help you.

What World War Two Taught Us About Recycling

March 7, 2010 by ftsword37

Most people consider recycling to be a recent phenomenon, however, there is evidence of recycling from as long ago as 400BC. It was around the mid 1900s though that recycling was first done a mass scale.

During the World War II, resources were hard to come by and Governments ran massive recycling campaigns to ensure as little as possible was wasted. Here are a few examples of what was recycled and for what reason…

- Tins and metal were recycled for use in aircraft, tanks and weapons.

- Left over food provided feed for pigs, chickens and goats and people would bring their scraps to communal bins.

- Rubber was recycled to make new tires.

- Boiled bones were used to make glue for aircraft or made into glycerin for explosives.

People were also encouraged to repair belongings rather than buy new. Campaigns like ‘Make Do & Mend’ gave advice on how to recycle textiles and make clothes last longer. Knitting also became very popular during the Second World War.

On war time rations, families had to plan meals carefully to ensure that food did not go to waste. With no fridges or freezers, perishable food had to be purchased in small quantities and meals were made with some interesting substitutes. Meat fat was saved to make pastry, and even the cream from milk was collected in a jar and shaken to make butter.

It is sad that it took people so long to recognize the importance of recycling, and also that it required such miserable circumstances to draw it to our attention. These days, we realize the importance of recycling to preserve the Earth’s resources, save money, reduce pollution and help combat climate change.

However, we are still falling well below targets for diverting waste from landfill sites. Though we know what we should be doing, and though it is not difficult for us to do it, there is still a very much laid back attitude to recycling. Too many of us simply cannot be bothered to recycle.

The uses of recyclable materials are different now from what they were 60 years ago, but we can still look to our grandparents and the older generations for tips and inspiration. If they could do it, then why can’t we recycle too? We should all be doing what we can now, and not be waiting for a major crisis to kick-start us into mass recycling again.

Ware 4 Recycling Bins Ltd have been promoting cost effective recycling bins, trolleys and waste containers for over 5 years.

There are many diverse types of pellet stoves on the market today along with Enviro pellet stoves are a good example of the variety out there as they have everything from quite small elegant pellet stoves right up to very large pellet stoves that manufacture up to a maximum of 70,000 BTU’s (British Thermal Units). The pellets stoves available today also have built in timers in addition to remote controls making it far easier for you to control when you would like your heating to come on or go off. Some you can even control via mobile phone. Pellet stoves can also be very low maintenance as the hopers connected to the stoves only necessitate to be filled up once a day and in some pellet stoves with larger hopper can accommodate as much as 6 days worth of pellets. Depending what type of fuel you are using for case in point premium biomass pellets, they create very little ash in addition to clinker formation making it a very clean and efficient heating technique.

Learn more about Pellet Stoves

There are many different types of pellet fuel you can use today yet not all pellet stoves will burn all fuel types along with if you try to burn for instance straw fuel pellets in a biomass pellet only stove then you will have problems by excess ash and clinker formations which in some cases can cause serious breakdowns by way of pellet stoves and big repair bills. You will therefore call for to decide what fuel pellets you are going to use. The advantages of using biomass pellets are that they are a relatively clean fuel producing little ash and clinker but if you purchased a pellet stove that can only burn biomass pellets you are reliant then on that energy source along with if prices of biomass were to rise then its not the top financial decision. It would be far better purchasing a pellet stove that could burn a range of energy types such as wood, straw along with grass. Many of the Enviro pellet stoves can burn multi energy pellets. There would however be more maintenance required using multi energy pellets as they do manufacture more ash along with clinker so regular cleaning is required as well as you would have to decide if you have time to do this.

There many good reasons these days for purchasing a pellet stove. Not only is it good for the environment as wood fuel pellets plus multi energy pellets are a carbon neutral fuel source but also due to the financial incentives as well. Firstly by way of the grants that you can get from some local councils for helping by way of the costs of pellet stove installations but also the money that you can save from incineration fuels such as wood, straw or grass pellets compared to the prices of traditional fuels such as oil and gas. Making sure you are purchasing the right type of pellet stove for you needs however should not be overlooked along with there are many factors which you require to take into consideration. For case as I stated earlier there are many a range of sizes of pellet stoves on the market and you will call for to determine what heat output you call for to warmth a particular area. You will also need to decide if you would like the pellet stove to be an aesthetically pleasing focal point as there are pellet stoves that resemble traditional biomass incineration stoves or more modern looking stoves. To help you make a confident choice we have developed the Pellet Stove plus Boiler Guide.

Biomass Pellet Insert Along With The Payback Of Wood Energy Pellets

February 22, 2010 by ftsword37

There are a variety of forms of biomass pellet combustion solutions including the wood pellet insert. The pellet insert refers to a fitted pellet stove into an existing fireplace. The look of a wood pellet inert is of a more integrated along with purpose build solution instead of a pellet stove positioned somewhere in the room. Depending on the temperature output of the wood pellet insert, it can either be used to generate adequate temperature for the living room where it is located or to temperature several rooms, or even the whole property. Some biomass pellet inserts come fitted by a back boiler to connect to an existing central heating system for better temperature distribution. The design, features as well as required maintenance are essentially the same as a pellet stove, in fact practically all biomass pellet inserts are based around existing pellet stove models. The only main difference maybe the loading space of the pellet energy hopper.

Learn more about Wood Pellet Mill

The core features of a wood pellet stove or biomass pellet insert are the hopper, auger feed system, burn pot in addition to heat exchanger. The design of the these workings is very important, much more important than many people realise. For example the design of the hopper as well as auger feed system its self can influence how well the pellet stove handles the fuel pellets without complications. For instance, pellet length is not a universal standard in many cases, in addition to pellet lengths do vary. The length of the pellet is set in the pellet mill by means of a knife, as well as these knives are set differently by way of many pellet stove manufacturers. The issues comes as the design of some pellet insert hoppers along with augers are designed when only a pellet of a set length can flow through the hopper in addition to up the auger feed chute. If a pellet is too long it can, plus will frequently become blocked in the auger components, in some cases even causing damage. The other issue by way of some hoper plus auger designs is the inability to deal by pellet fines. Pellet fines is dust from the pellet manufacture process, and although the pellets are screened before bagging in addition to sale, there will always be a percentage of fines. Some hoppers also challenge by means of a build up of fines in the base of the hopper, along with to clean the pellet stove or pellet insert hopper can required a lot of work.

One of the other key workings of the wood pellet insert which effects incineration results and success is the design of the burn pot. However the principle as well as key design criteria of the burn pot may appear easy, this is a misconception. The burn pot must be able to burn the pellets efficiently, by means of a god air flow as well as also remove ash. Now to designing a burn pot to burn a low ash energy is very easy, though many wood fuel pellets have a higher ash content along with many designs of pellet insert burn pot are not enough. Manufactures design the simplest burn pot as most consumers currently only wish to burn premium pellets and demand no more. Yet these basic design of burn pots remove consumer option on pellet energy, in addition to remove the ability to possibly use locally formed fuel pellets from other forms of biomass pellet energy. More flexible designs of burn pot are well known, have fee more to manufacturer, so are deliberately looked over by means of wood pellet insert designers and manufactures.

In terms of our current residence heating energy options, the choice has been pretty much either oil or gas for the last fifty years. On the other hand that alternative due to fossil energy prices is becoming less plus less attractive. In no only is costing us more and more each year, but it is also damaging our environment, sending money out of the country and not providing any benefits in terms of local jobs to community. Now, there is a lot of emphasis on renewable technology in the form of solar plus wind power. On the other hand these solutions are needed, they cannot provide the required fuel for heating. Wood is the most practical and affordable solution for heating, along with the most practical technique to utilize biomass along with wood into a heating energy, is to upgrade the materials in energy pellets for pellet stoves as well as boilers. Biomass pellet energy is a relatively new concept to many people, though the probable of pellet energy is huge. For one, the available resources go far beyond wood to perennial grasses which already grow abundantly without management to using waste agricultural residues which in many places of the world are still being burnt in open fields. All these resources can upgraded into fuel pellets to be used in pellet stoves.

More details on Wood Pellet Mill

There are a variety of biomass as well as wood pellet combustion solutions to meet your heating requirements no material what size of building you are trying to heat. On the other hand however all pellet burners are biomass pellet burners, they are not necessarily also wood pellet burners. Wood pellets are much cheaper than wood pellets, on the other hand they do have more issues. These issues selection from a higher ash content to increased corrosion risk. Because of this, some pellet burners are simply no cable of using biomass pellets without complications. Yet it is worth investing the time in addition to money into sourcing a more flexible pellet burner which can use biomass pellets, as the rewards of using locally accessible as well as cheaper pellet fuel will become more significant in the future as the pellet market grows. For smaller properties, wood pellet stoves are generally used, in addition to biomass pellet boilers for large properties. However, as many pellet stoves are also designed for their aesthetics, a pellet stove in the centre living space is preferred by way of many consumers. Generally the abilities of pellet stoves are more limited than pellet boilers due to their smaller size along with cheaper manufacture costs. However there are units accessible that are robust plus pellet fuel flexible.

One of the key advantages over many other forms of fuel, is pellet fuel can be constructed on a small scale in addition to created as well as sold locally. In times of economic recession, this brings a huge opportunity to bring jobs back to local communities, in addition to also help consumers to spend money within the local community. The type of fuel pellets shaped can vary, in addition to should support other local industries. For case, if agriculture is a local industry, corn stalks plus cobs can be used to produce local pellets. Generating a better return for local farmers. Perhaps wood land maintenance is core local company. Then the biomass chips can be processed into fuel pellets. There is a wide collection of choices.

Good Reasons To Recycle Paper

February 21, 2010 by ftsword37

The environment benefits greatly from paper being recycled and, fortunately, it is not at all difficult to do. Once it has been collected (by either your local authority or a recycling company acting on their behalf), it is taken to a paper mill, who take care of the rest of the recycling process.

Once at the mill, the scrap paper is added to water and then turned into pulp. Having been turned into pulp, it is then cleaned and de-inked. It is then ready to be made into new products such as newspapers, toilet rolls and other paper based items commonly found in the home and office.

Below are some of the environmental and money saving benefits of recycling paper:

Saves Trees - The most obvious reason to recycle paper is for saving trees which provide vital oxygen for the planet. Just 1 ton of recycled paper saves at least 16 of them.

Wildlife Preservation - More often than not, the wildlife that lives in the trees that are cut down to make ‘new’ paper, die quickly because they cannot adapt to living anywhere else. Recycling paper means that they can die natural deaths instead of forced ones.

Less Water Consumption - To make ‘new’ paper requires vast amounts of water, whereas the process of recycling paper uses up much less of this important resource.

Saves Electricity - Producing electricity seriously damages the environment, but more than 400 kilowatt hours are saved by recycling 1 ton of paper.

Reduces Oil Dependence - Recycling paper reduces our dependence on oil. For every ton of paper that is recycled, approximately 2 barrels of oil are saved.

Saves Space - Recycling paper reduces space in landfills. 1 ton of recycled paper made from scraps can save 3 cubic yards.

Less Pollution - Paper can burn in municipal waste incinerators that can spew out all kinds of air pollutants. When many incinerators are in urban locations, everyone would benefit from breathing better air if there were fewer of them.

Creates Jobs - Think about all the people who work within the paper recycling industry. Collectors, sorters and machine operators being just a few of them. The more that we recycle, the more of these jobs there will be created.

Paper Logs - Many people are now turning to paper logs as a supplementary fuel source. Consisting of tightly compressed briquettes of paper, these logs can be thrown on a fire or used in a wood burner to provide heat for free.

Cheaper Paper - Recycled paper is often cheap to purchase. Buying cheaper, recycled goods encourages more recycled goods to be manufactured, sustaining the recycling industry.

http://www.paperlogmaker.org.uk is a website dedicated to the recycling of paper. At their site you can find out what a paper log maker is and how it can help you recycle paper.

Biomass Pellet Plus Furnace Along With Fuel Prices

February 14, 2010 by ftsword37

A biomass pellet furnace can describe many different forms of pellet burning solutions, these include wood pellet stoves and biomass pellet boilers. There are many different designs of biomass pellet furnace, each by means of its own abilities plus restrictions. One of the key points is premium wood pellets are the market leader, as they necessitate the least maintenance. Biomass pellet stove along with boiler manufactures know that most of their consumers are only interested in incineration premium grade pellet energy for these reasons. They therefore design their biomass pellet furnace by means of the ability to burn only premium wood pellets. The reason for this is it is much cheaper to make a unit to burn only premium wood pellets than to successfully burn a wider grade of biomass pellet fuels in addition to other wood energy pellets. Most consumers at this point will no be the wiser to the boundaries of their chosen wood pellet furnace. Yet in the future and as the pellet energy market grows, they may begin to understand the implications of their furnace option. Premium biomass pellet fuels are shaped from timber residues of softwood plus hardwood. At this time the size of the timber processing industry can support the pellet fuels industry by means of adequate biomass sawdust to create pellets to meet market demand. Though, the biomass pellet market has not even come close to its probable, therefore where will the additional biomass be sourced from? The wood used for premium wood pellets has to be from only certain species, plus by way of the bark removed, to maintain the ultra low 0.5% ash content. The concern is that trees themselves with be cut down to meet the demands to the market.

Learn more about Wood Pellet Mills

Once the supply of wood reside cannot meet the demands of the premium pellet energy market, then the fee of premium biomass pellets will rise. This has been seen already, by way of the impact of the banking collapse in addition to mortgage crisis in the US. When the crisis took hold, all new housing production stopped. This in tern meant there was less timber being processed plus less sawdust. Increased prices of sawdust manufactured the cost of premium biomass pellets amplify, not only did the fee raise, there also wasn’t the volume of sawdust to meet market demand. By purchasing a biomass pellet furnace which can only burn premium grade pellets you have essentially tied your self to the inevitable cost rises in the future of premium pellets. The limiting factors of poor wood pellet furnace design involve the design of the pellet auger feed system in addition to the burn pot. Purchasing a more energy flexible wood pellet furnace will not only mean the pellet burner can burn other grades of wood pellets, but also biomass energy pellets which are rising in appeal.

As the fee of premium wood pellets in the long term is certain to rise, alternatives which can be grown much more quickly than pine or spruce must be used. Accepted biomass crops for pellet energy are hemp plus willow, both have similar combustion characteristics to biomass, yet with hemp for instance it has only a four month growing period from see as well as requires very little upkeep. Many other biomass materials can also be processed into energy pellets, these include grasses such as miscanthus, switchgrass and reed canary grass. Pellet energy has a mounting future.

Wood Pellet Inserts And Energy Pellets Along With Heating

February 14, 2010 by ftsword37

The most in style forms of using pellet energy form home heating is the wood pellet stove or biomass pellet stove inserts. Biomass pellet inserts provide a low maintenance and convenient heating solution from heating a single room up to a whole property. The inserts can achieve this owing to either hot are ventilation, convection temperature or the unit may even have a back boiler. How much maintenance biomass pellet inserts requires changes depending on the features of the stove. The first in addition to most basic maintenance need is loading the woos pellet insert by means of energy. As inserts are fully integrated to the fireplace the accessible space for the inbuilt fuel hopper is limited. Though, you should still be able to expect at least a days worth of energy to be held in the hopper even on maximum settings. Through the fact the biomass pellet inserts are heavily integrated into the fireplace, access to load the hopper is more limited. To decrease the maintenance of fuel loading further, some consumer has the inbuilt hopper of the inserts fed from an external hopper in the garage or outside. Having an external large hopper also method bulk pellet delivers are likely by pellet tanker.

Learn more about Wood Pellet Mills

The second other key area of maintenance of biomass pellet inserts is ash removal. The particular task depends on two factors, the type of energy pellets you are burning as well as the size of the ash draw. Choosing a wood pellet insert by a large ash draw will obviously decrease the number of times it has to be emptied, however it may also mean the unit is more energy flexible in addition to able to burn a wider collection of fuel pellets which may generate more ash. For case, premium grade pellet fuels generally generate around 0.5% ash. This is lowest ash content pellet at present available. Even with a fairly small ash draw, the user shouldn’t have to empty the draw until a weeks or even more of burning.
The problem is as premium wood pellets are in the most demand, they sometimes have supply issues in addition to also they already demand the greatest prices, as they generate the least ash as well as most heat. The reason for resource complications it the wood residue to manufacture premium biomass pellets is heavily dependant on timber construction. So when timber manufacture slows, so does the obtainable biomass sawdust to make premium biomass pellets. Therefore when premium pellet resource is lacking, having a biomass pellet insert which can used higher ash content fuels is an advantage, so opting for wood pellet stove inserts with large ash draws has its reward. There are other requires the pellet stove requires to burn high ash content energy such as the correct burn pot plus auger feed system designs.

Compare to basic biomass heating solutions such as log stoves, wood pellet inserts provide a far more modern along with proficient technique to utilize biomass to temperature your dwelling or firm. On the other hand, the potential of the pellet fuel market is by means of no method full exploited, as a there are many more biomass resources which can be used to produce proficient fuel pellets which are not used. For example willow as well as hemp are two crops which show great possible to move the pellet fuels market forward as their growth rate is very fast in addition to can meet the demands of the growing pellet fuels market. Torrefacation will also revolutionize pellet stove fuel.

Wood Pellet Heating In Addition To Energy Costs And Log Stoves

February 14, 2010 by ftsword37

Using biomass as a energy for heating solutions is nothing new, however using wood in pellet form for heating solutions has only really existed on commercial scale since the beginning of the 21st century. Basic log stoves plus boilers have always been a division of abode and firm heating solutions. However they have never really gained mass market appeal in the modern world. The obvious reasons for this is that they are very labour intensive, they are not very fuel efficient, the energy is not always locally available as well as log transport over longer distances is not economically viable or sustainable. Therefore the only people who have used log heating solutions are those either have access to their own or a local reserve of seasoned timber. The other issues are the logs generally sold are not seasoned down to the 30% required to achieve a satisfactory burn by means of limited smoke. However many of the wood log traders sell the energy at prices which would not indicate that it contained between 40-50% moisture. The other major disadvantage is the volume of space that is required to store the timber. This therefore way the wood log heating market will never grow into a serious market contender in the 21st century. However pellets do offer a practical heating solution which can compete by means of other heating units.

Learn more about Wood Pellet Mills

The principle of biomass pellet energy has actually existed since the 1970’s. Animal feed mill processors were experimenting by way of using wood in the feed mills. Though the machine is not ideal to produce wood pellets, they did create the first wood pellet fuel, and a few biomass pellet fuel manufactures in addition to pellet stove manufactures did enter the market. However at the time there was no real market share for the biomass pellet. Biomass pellets are more expensive than biomass logs, plus the payback were not well known. Though they had much lower maintenance than incineration logs, they still required more maintenance than oil or gas heating solutions. At that time the fee of oil in addition to gas was cheap, there we no concern over fuel supply along with no one was aware of climate change as well as carbon emissions. The biomass pellet market never really go going until the beginning of the 21st century, when the prices of oil as well as gas began to rise as well as concern over climate change was been started to be taken seriously. Sweden was well ahead of the rest of the world by means of wood pellet fuels, as well as had proved the principle of the fuel along with pellet stoves as well as pellet boilers.

The characteristics of wood pellet energy is a uniform shape plus size. These qualities mean biomass pellets are ideal for automatic feeding systems by way of auger units. Biomass pellet stoves plus boiler have an integrate hopper which can hold at least a days worth of energy. The burner is controller with computer which monitors the fire along with feeds in the required amount of pellets to maintain the desired heat. As most pellet burners also have hot rod igniters they can ignite the pellets as well, so the pellet stove or boiler can turn its self on, on demand as well as turn its self off by cutting off air flow to the fire. Wood pellets have a much higher density than biomass logs in addition to also a much lower moisture content below 10%. This method the pellets generate less ash along with less smoke, requiring less maintenance. Premium biomass pellets manufacture only 0.5% ash.
